Dancing Hearts offers private, customized education for you and your dog or puppy. Your teacher is Kathy Kawalec, who has spent over 30 years learning from the best possible teachers: the dogs themselves! What the dogs have said is that clearly communicated intention, compassionate understanding, partnered teamwork and lots of patience and love is what works best!

At Dancing Hearts, Kathy uses fun, motivational and positive methods to
teach you how to teach your dog. A Certified TTouch Practitioner and
Holistic Dog Training Coach, Kathy has spent nearly 30 years learning
how to teach animals through understanding, clear communication,
positive reinforcement and partnership.
Private dog and puppy classes are held at the Dancing Hearts farm in
Manhattan, Illinois. Your lessons will be held in a cozy sunroom
overlooking the farm, or outdoors in a spacious and safely fenced grass
yard. You will NOT find over-crowded, over-stimulating classes where
you and your dog get lost in the crowd at Dancing Hearts. If you live
within travel distance, Kathy can also come your home for your lessons,
for an additional travel fee.
Whether indoors or outdoors, you and your dog will be provided with
personal attention and customized lesson plans to help your dog become
a well-mannered family member and a welcome neighbor. Your entire
family is encouraged to attend (with well behaved children over 5) so
all can participate in the canine education process whenever possible.
A personalized lesson plan and full instructor attention are perfect
reasons to register for private classes at Dancing Hearts. Your lessons
are individually designed to address the specific challenges that face
you and your dog. If your dog is nervous, shy, over-stimulated by other
dogs, or has a limited attention span, group classes may be
overwhelming and difficult. In that case, your dog is best suited for
private training and will thrive with the lessons given by Kathy.
Lessons can be scheduled weekly, or to fit your particular needs and
schedule.
Your private puppy and dog education program can be designed to address common schooling subjects such as:
- Understanding and speaking "canine"...what is your dog trying to tell you?

Learning and Teaching philosophy and concepts, including the most
important aspect of teaching your dog: developing a good relationship
based on trust and mutual respect.
- Basic manners and life skills such as sit, down, leash walking, coming when called, stay etc.
- "4 on the Floor", or how to prevent jumping up on people.
- Gentle mouth, Take and Give.
- "Quiet" and to discourage inappropriate barking.
- Walking nicely on a leash.
- Grooming manners for brushing, nail clipping, teeth brushing.
- Sharing toys, food and other good stuff.

TTouch and the Playground of Higher Learning may be incorporated into
your lessons to teach dogs how to relax, focus, think and make
intelligent choices, build confidence, flexibility, coordination and
have self control.
Puppy and Dog School Tuition
Private tutoring lessons, custom designed for you and your dog may be scheduled weekly or bi-weekly at Dancing Hearts in Manhattan, Illinois. Appointments are available weekdays and some evenings. Once your order is received, Kathy will contact you via email or phone to schedule your lessons.
