The Dancing Hearts herding program is for people who are interested in learning a positive method for teaching their herding dogs shepherding skills. Whether your interest is enjoying a fun outdoor activity with your dog, for competing in herding trials or for making your farm chores easier, you will enjoy Connected Herding!
As a student at Dancing Hearts, you will learn and practice skills designed to shape your dog's natural herding abilities while you also learn about the stock animals and how they think and respond. Kathy's methods center on keeping the dog in a calm, focused, eager-to-learn state of mind - which helps the dog learn, and helps the handler to learn too!
Private Herding Lessons
Herding lessons are customized for your individual needs and are scheduled upon request. All levels of herding breed dogs and handlers, from beginner thru advanced will benefit from private lessons with Kathy.
Herding Aptitude Assessment and Puppy Herding Development
This lesson is a short introduction to herding and is perfect if you
are not sure whether you or your dog have an aptitude for herding and
you would like to give it a try. This lesson is also great for a young
pup that you would like to expose to sheep or ducks to develop interest
until they are old enough to begin training.

First Time Students - Consultation/Evaluation/Coaching/Training Session
Whether you are just ready to begin your new herding adventure, or
you would like professional coaching to improve your handling and your
dog's skills at levels from novice to advanced, this is where you
should start. New or first time herding students are required to
schedule this consultation/evaluation/coaching session. This session
includes a discussion of your goals, an evaluation of your current
issues and challenges, a coaching/training session and establishing a
plan for future training, as well as home work assignments. Allow 1.5
to 2 hours for this session. Future lessons of 30 or 60 minutes can
then be scheduled as outlined below.

Private Herding Lesson Course
A 4 week personalized coaching course to help you meet your herding goals and perfect specific techniques. The pace is up to you! You may choose a 30 or 60 minute private class. The tuition reflects a discount off the private lesson fee, and is perfect for students who wish to schedule weekly or semi-weekly lessons.

Scheduling and Payment information
Once your order is received, Kathy will contact you via email or phone to schedule your lesson. An email confirmation of your order will be sent to your email address. You may pay via credit card or paypal online by following the checkout process to the payment page. If you wish to pay via check, simply stop your payment process once you are redirected to Paypal. Then, print a copy of your emailed order confirmation, make check payable to Kathy Kawalec, and mail to the address on the order confirmation, or bring to your first lesson.
